Dandad

All day today Nathan asked "is dandad comin' over". Evidently he wanted to play basketball with him. So we called Granddad and, of course, he came over. What Nathan wants, Nathan gets. Dandad never made it past the playroom. I'm actually shocked that Nathan let him eat dinner. No basketball was played, but lots of trains and cars. Oh...and then Nathan thought it was important to have Aaron in the tent with him.

Aaron Sits!

Aaron has been sitting on his own but only if we put him in the sitting position. Well, tonight, after a long night of gymnastics for Nathan and Chick-fil-A (don't worry, the bear was gone) and visiting with new neighbors while all the kids ran wild in the cul-de-sac, Ryan laid Aaron down on his back to go get something. When he turned around, this is what he saw.

Funny Boys

We had Aaron sitting in the Bumbo and I guess Nathan though that was cool. So he got his booster seat from the kitchen and watched a little TV with Aaron.

Our Big Accomplishments...

Right after Aaron was born, I really wanted to join a gym and get in shape. Being the nice husband that Ryan is, he gave up his gym membership so that I could get one. He decided to start running instead and he thought the Peachtree would be a good thing to work for. On February 6th he ran his first 10k to qualify to be sub-seeded and finished in a time of 41:44. The time he needed was 41:59, so he accomplished his goal. But, on February 28th he ran another 10k finishing in 40:55, coming in 2nd in his age group and 4th overall. He started enjoying this so much that he decided to start training for a half marathon. Today he ran the ING half marathon and finished in 1:33:16. That put him finishing 180 out of 10,501. Congratulations Ryan!! Evidently, he's a good runner. Now he's trying to decide if he wants to try to run a marathon. I think he's crazy : )

Ryan after the ING, Burger King in hand.
Nathan loves Daddy's medals.

In the same time Ryan has been training for this, I have also been working to accomplish my goal. I signed up for Weight Watchers and joined LA Fitness and after 6 months, mission accomplished. I have lost 23lbs and have gone from a size 8 to a size 2. The best part is that I have become a person that actually enjoys eating healthy and working out. YAY me!!

So tonight, after all this hard work, we are headed to Outback!! Guess tomorrow I'll have to change that 23 to a 20 : )

Our Day at the Zoo!!

We spent Friday at the zoo with Ned and Carter and had such a good time. The weather couldn't have been any better.
My boys were pumped!! Check out Carter's cool shades
Cutest 3 boys ever

Carter stayed so happy the whole time and Nathan turned into the biggest grump. He was so exhausted and was done.
He's hard to see but this baby monkey was the highlight of our trip

This gorilla was awesome until he charged straight at us scaring us all half to death. It was then time to move on from the monkeys.

In other news.....
Aaron had his 6 month checkup on Thursday. He weighs 21lbs and is 29 inches long putting him in the 95th percentile. He is such a big boy. He also has a million teeth coming in and an ear infection, so as Nathan would say, "Ayan not happy"

Nathan's imagination is going crazy. He told us last night that he was going "super fast" and used his imaginary jet pack to run across the room. I thought Ryan was going to fall out of his chair.
He also freaked out in the Chick-fil-a slide because he heard a noise that had him convinced that there was a bear in there. He told one of the sweet girls that works there about it and she assured him that she would take care of it and that the bear would be gone when we came back next week. Lets hope so because later that night I noticed a scratch by his eye and when I asked him what happened he said the bear hurt his eye. Hmmmmm......

So much to tell......

Well, I just started blogging and already I stink at it.

Last Friday, March 5, 2010, We did Aaron's baby naming. A baby naming is the Jewish tradition of presenting a child with a Hebrew name. Aaron Reese is named after my wonderful grandmother, Terese, but traditionally the Hebrew name is after somebody that has passed away. So to keep in honor of my grandmother, his Hebrew name is after her father. We were surrounded by our family and great friends that have become our family and that made it such a wonderful day. The people that couldn't be there, well, we can't say it's because they didn't try. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family (friends included) that are a part of important moments like these. I didn't get any pictures (I know...WHAT?!?!?, no pictures!!) but it is a day that we will always remember even without the photos.

Aaron update:
Aaron has been very busy working on his skills. He is able to sit up all on his own now and he is now getting up on his hands and knees and rocking. I feel so bad for him because he actually has become somewhat mobile but he only goes backwards. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to work so hard but keep getting further away from the things you want. He will be crawling in no time and I'm not sure I'm ready for that. : )

Oh...and let's not forget his first banana

And with this BEAUTIFUL weather we have been having, we have managed to make it outside quite a bit. Saturday morning we were able to go to our favorite trails with Ned, Mel and Carter and then Sunday we had a picnic at the playground. Monday night, a friend of Nathan's came over to play and we grilled hotdogs. While the big boys played in the yard, Aaron got a lesson in grilling from Daddy. I'm so ready for Spring!!!!

And...a Nathan update:
About 1 1/2 months ago Nathan graduated into a big boy bed and it was definitely not by our choice. Knowing Nathan, We knew this was going to be an adventure but nothing could have prepared us for this. First, he ruined his blinds. We had light blocker shades underneath them so when we took the blinds down, we taped the shades to the frame until we could buy some roller shades. Well, then Nathan ripped the light blocker shade straight down the middle so that he could look out the window. We then dashed to Home Depot and got one BIG roller shade to cover both windows. It's white and plastic and looks like we could watch a movie in there if we had a projector, but it's not fun and he can get underneath it to look out the window without ruining it. There goes his adorable room. Yesterday he was in his room crying so when I went up there he was stuck on his dresser and couldn't get down. He had pulled his drawers out far enough to use them as a ladder. When I got him off the dresser, he took me around the room and showed me all the places he had smeared vaseline on the walls and furniture. Anybody that has had to clean vaseline off the walls knows that is not an easy task. So, today we anchored his dresser to the wall and took the shelves down that were above his dresser. In the process of taking the shelves down, a nice sized hole was ripped in the wall. Is this ever going to end? Nathan....baby, I love you and your fun personality more than you will ever know, but Mommy's EXHAUSTED!!

"It not cold"

So, this morning Nathan says in his cute 2 year old voice and grammar "I wanna go outside" and before I could say anything he says "Mommy, it not cold". We moved on to lunch time and nap time (which is really just a funny joke around here these days) and I went to check the mail. Well, Nathan was right....It was gorgeous outside. So when I went up to get him from his room where he had destroyed everything he could in the time given, I told him we would go to the playground when Aaron woke up. He got to the bottom of the stairs and yells "RYAN!!! Nope, Ryan not here". Guess I need to start calling him Daddy. Anyway, we had a great time at the playground and I took the opportunity to try to get some get pictures of the boys. Mission accomplished I think.
BTW...Aaron is not a gangster and we did not turn the hat on purpose.
